Short swim shorts
Short swim shorts are the perfect way to show off those muscles after long hours in the gym. Great workout results need to be presented in style, and this season we’re moving towards shorts that are noticeably longer or shorter than we’ve been used to. Gone is the stigma attached to tighter swim briefs and trunk shorts. This season is all about slim-fitting swim shorts (similar to your tailored shorts). They are dominated by colourful, mosaic patterns and floral, foliage prints (Dolce & Gabbana). But patterns are not the only trend this season for shorts. Neutrals, yellow, lilac, green and blue are also ruling high street stores, such as H&M this season.
Motifs and patterns are long gone; some of them are coming back with the blast this season. Stripes! This summer season, stripes are present in the marine style, based on the three colours: white, navy and red to give men this characteristic elegance with a bit of funk. This style is present in numerous collections of some of the greatest designer giants. Fashionbeans lists some of the most spectacular sleek collections by Gucci and Diesel Black Gold, perfect for hunks seeking elegance and well-tailored stripy options. Moreover, Diesel Black Gold doesn’t hesitate to mix a traditional black 3-piece suit with the popular bomber jacket trend this season for a bit more subtle touch. We think it’s awe-inspiring!
They are back! Born out of military styles they are now widely adapted in the popular culture. This year bomber jackets form a baseball-bomber hybrid. The jacket has a characteristic classic bomber cut with a round collar, which can be seen in any aviator movie like Top Gun.
Patterns also play a big role in the SS13 men’s style. The more camouflage, the better! Military patterns and paisley are the combo number 1 for bomber jackets this season. Wear it with a plain white tee and a pair of slim jeans with some leather boots.
So we’re saying ‘goodbye’ to the sporty chic and we’re going back to Safari and African deserts. This year an elegant traveller style rules this season’s catwalks and high street stores. Dries Van Noten, amongst the wide range of earth colours, proposes a panther pattern – ideal for camouflage. Most popular are different shades of beige, caramel and chocolate brown (Bottega Veneta). If you’re looking for a way to gently ease yourself into this one, you can’t go wrong with a pair of Lyle & Scott desert boots in a light sandy tone.
Trend doesn’t always mean colour. It also means fabrics and this season everything must shine, even suits! Robert Cavalli’s brave collection is perfect for those who are not afraid to stand out from the crowd and those who want to show off their bodies. Mandatory colours this season are gold and silver, however, some designers are promoting other colours, too (Burberry Prorsum).
As you can see, trends in SS13 fashion bring various different clothing options for men. Which trends do you think most appeal to you and inspire you? Which ones are you going to try out yourself? Or perhaps you haven’t decided yet?
